Make the Most out of Houston in Summer with the Kids
Y'all, summer in Texas means it's go-time for adventures, and Houston did not disappoint! As the 4th largest city in the country, there is so much to do — so I'm breaking this trip down into a little series for you. Here's round one!
Where We Stayed
We posted up at Seaside RV Resort and Hotel, and honestly? The cutest little cabins with everything we needed. Two pools, a hot tub, outdoor grilling areas (didn't get to those this time), and check-in/customer service that made everything easy from the start. Bonus — it's an easy hop to the highway to get anywhere else in the area, and only 6 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk if you want to add that to your list too.

What We Did
🎮 Immersive Gamebox Houston — I booked this one because my girls and I are obsessed with "The Floor is Lava," and lo and behold, they had that exact game! Funny enough, that ended up being our least favorite of the bunch — but this place was still a blast. So many games to choose from with different difficulty levels, player counts, and even trailers so you can find your family's perfect fit. Our favorite was the escape room — such a unique, interactive experience that made you feel like you were really in it.
🐠 Houston Interactive Aquarium and Animal Preserve (Humble, TX) — This one was a drive (40+ minutes on a Saturday from where we stayed south of the city), but SO worth it. Even the parking is part of the experience — a clownfish-themed mega cart shuttles you to the front door, and that was a ride on its own lol (IYKYK). Standard admission is around $25, kids under 2 are free, and from there you can add credits for feeding experiences. We splurged a bit because animals are our love language — fed otters (my favorite!), penguins, a sloth, a toucan, lemurs, and more. Just a heads up — animal interactions are at their discretion, so don't be surprised if one's not feeling it that day (our giraffe encounter got rained out, literally). Either way, well worth it no matter your budget.
🏖️ LagoonFest Texas — Beach Club and Aqua Adventure Park — I'd had my eye on this place for YEARS, and we finally made it happen! A massive 12-acre manmade crystal-clear lagoon with white sand beaches — basically a beach day without leaving Texas. There's an entry fee plus small add-on fees, and we did the inflatable aquacourse (my girls could not stay on their feet, it was hilarious) and kayaking/paddleboarding. Everything was clean and well maintained, with food and treat vendors on site. We'll definitely be back next season!

We've also hit up Dave & Buster's at Baybrook Mall and the NASA Space Center Houston on past trips — both solid additions if you're building out your itinerary.
Where We Ate
Honest answer? We just googled "food near me" — Houston's got options for days. A couple favorites: we did hot pot and Korean BBQ at The Kpot in Webster, grabbed breakfast at Black Bear Diner in League City, and stopped at https://cleburnecafeteria.com for a late lunch after gaming. Note: Cleburne is an inner-loop staple, Piccadilly-style spot with lots of options. Just be careful on letting your kid go through the line alone because whatever you ask for on your tray, you pay for — I learned this the hard way.
